The first look of the film, unveiled on July 4, had already created buzz—showing Salman with bloodstains on his face and a rugged moustached avatar. Reports indicate that Salman portrays Colonel B Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment who led his troops during the Galwan Valley clash of June 2020. The real-life confrontation between Indian and Chinese soldiers along the Line of Actual Control resulted in the martyrdom of 20 Indian soldiers and significant casualties on the Chinese side. The film aims to bring to life the intensity of the standoff that occurred amid the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the raw, close-combat nature of the clash. Chitrangda Singh, who plays a key role, earlier admitted she felt “a bit nervous” joining the project because of Salman’s massive fan following. “I’m glad they accepted me with their Salman, their hero. It’s been good so far,” she told HT. Battle of Galwan is slated for a 2026 theatrical release.
